Also I’m struggling to even use my favorite site now. Every action I take I have to pause for like a good solid 2 minutes of my brain absolutely not working and not computing AT ALL before I very slowly and sluggishly navigate the bar to try and often not succeed in managing the task I am trying to accomplish.

This should have been something you rolled out in Tumblr labs for people to test and give (the clearly negative) feedback on before you forced it on all of us with no way to change it back.

I despise it. As much or *more* than I despised the ugly ass shit DeviantArt did to their site so long ago. Get rid of it. It completely breaks the functionality of the site — especially for anyone who PURPOSELY and vehemently doesn’t use the shitty ass other social media sites.

I have been using Tumblr for 6 years now. I am very very used to and love the old layout. Although I am deeply loyal to Tumblr and I have always believed it would take quite a lot to make me go, changing it like this one day with no option to turn it back makes it very tempting to just log out and never come back again until you’ve permanently fixed this issue and changed it back.

You know what I did when DeviantArt changed their site? I stopped using it because I couldn’t bear it. These days it’s extremely lucky if I visit that site once or twice a year. Please please please do not permanently break Tumblr for me like this. I love this site so damn much, I don’t want to be forced to drop it.

“But there's in fact a theory that there was a race even closer to the gods than us Hylians a long time ago, and it was them who founded it!”

The kingdom of Hyrule has a long, long history. So long, in fact, that the events that occurred leading up to its founding and in its early years have faded into myth. Hyrule’s recurring periods of prosperity and decline have made it impossible to tell which legends are historical fact and which are mere fairy tale. However, it is an indisputable truth that Calamity Ganon attacked Hyrule and was sealed ten thousand years ago, and that it revived one hundred years ago in an event called the Great Calamity.

Still, ten thousand years is an extraordinarily long time, and all that remains of that event is the legend itself. Any official documents regarding Calamity Ganon’s latest revival and the periods surrounding it were burned away in the Great Calamity, so no detailed accounts remain. As such, what is listed here is a sketch of Hyrule’s history, limited to what little information can be found today.

The Establishment of Hyrule Kingdom

The descendants of the goddess Hylia, who was reincarnated as Princess Zelda, established the kingdom of Hyrule and became Hyrule’s royal family. In order to protect the Triforce, Hyrule Castle was built in the center of Hyrule, where the Temple of Time was located. The royal family watched over the Triforce, keeping its existence unknown to others.

— The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, page 77

Conclusion:

Queen Sonia was a descendant of the spirit maiden who was the goddess Hylia reincarnated as a mortal. She's a Hylian!

King Rauru was a living member of the legendary sky beings, the highly advanced civilization who originally built up the kingdom of Hyrule. The Zonai were the sky beings of legend!

? Does this mean that the Zonai eventually become the Ooca?

Or was the City in the Sky not created by the ancestors of the Ooca, the Ooca just ended up inhabiting it and adopting its technology?

loruleanhistorian

I wager that some fragments of the Zonai lived on, maybe even as hybrids, and the “Oocca” are a result of that. Ooccoo (a.k.a. Obā-chan) confidently refers to the technology inside of the Temple of Time as that of her clan; and both Shad and Rusl state that they believe the temple to have been built by the sky people in ancient times.

Perhaps the ancient hero's aspect is another such hybrid, from later on down the road…?

So, some of you may recall the old WIP version of this artwork that I posted back in late July of last year — if you’ve been following my main blog or the Cherish one long enough, anyway — but after over a year and several months of alternated work and procrastination, I finally managed to finish the full piece today, and so, I present to you: the official Chapter 1 artwork for Cherish.

I will be incorporating it into its proper place in the fic shortly after posting this, so I hope that any new or returning visitors to the fic will feel free to check that out and appreciate it and all of the other wonderful artwork that Cherish has received so far from myself and my dear co-artist. 💖

Do not repost this artwork anywhere without my explicit permission or claim it as your own. See F.A.Q.s for details.

Songs I listened to while drawing this:

My Cherish Playlist (the public and currently only partial version of which you can listen to here.) Most specifically of all though, the chapter’s namesake, Dust in the Wind by KANSAS.

Also, a Dust in the Wind cover by Boyce Avenue.

I narrated the first Chapter of Cherish. Please check it out if you’re interested. 🙏💖 (But please first read the tags and/or initial notes on AO3 and make an informed decision on if it’s something you’d be interested in before watching or interacting, thanks. 💗) (Also, there are Fifteen and Storm Bringer spoilers involved, obviously.)

Check out the rest of the fic so far using the link above!!
